Chambers Gully

Back to Chambers Gully with the Thursday group. A couple of good hills and bush bashing, some of it made up as we went.

Mt Lofty circuit

A classic walk from Chambers Gully up to Mt Lofty summit, then back down the Pioneer Women's Trail.

Cleland Conservation Park

A good catch-up with Vicki, we spied a group of walkers from the Heysen walking club.

Kokoda Training

No, I'm not doing the Kokoda Track. I just thought I might join a few others who are training for it. A short two hour circuit, three very steep hills, a Simon Special.

Chambers Gully

Afternoon rains cooled the day, so it was an enjoyable hike when all the trees and grasses were moist, fresh rain is a beautiful smell. Found a koala sitting on the ground which was pretty special, although certainly unusual. It was, as they always are, lethargic. Enjoyed catching with some old friends and chatting, even while climbing some of the crazy tracks. I've not been down some of the tracks before, I love how there are so many tracks within Cleland Conservation Park, many more than those marked on the maps.

Chambers Gully and Mt Lofty circuit

A tough circuit walk using little-used tracks in Cleland Conservation Park.

Chambers Gully and Mt Lofty circuit

Starting from Chambers Gully, Graham took me on this hike which Steve had shown him. A good training hike due to it's numerous steep hills, from near Mt Lofty, where one could easily side-track for a morning coffee at the summit cafe, it heads around the boundary of Cleland Wildlife Park via a steep incline. From here it follows the ETSA spur trail to it's end, then following an indistinct track down to the Chinamans Hut ruin. From here it cross the popular Waterfall Gully to Mt Lofty path for a second time, before heading over to the Old Bullock Track on the Pioneer Womens Trail and back to Chambers Gully.

An excellent tough hike, well recommended.
